Pilates

Pilates is an exercise method based on the work of Joseph Pilates. Its focus is on strengthening the "powerhouse" (abs and buttocks) to execute the exercises which are designed to increase flexibility, strengthen muscles, and improve posture. The method involves concentration and the coordination of breath and movement, thereby helping to balance mind and body.

Pilates

The practice of Pilates is great on its own or as a compliment to your Yoga practice. In this hour-long class you will engage the core of the body in a fluid movement of exercises linked with breath. The core is responsible for almost all the body's movement in one way or the other and strengthening the core equals a healthy back, healthy body!

Pilates offers group classes and private sessions at all levels:

Beginner Pilates

This beginner class takes the time to explain the fundamentals of Pilates, so you aren't left feeling overwhelmed. Emphasis is on:

  • Developing breath work (key in connecting core muscles)
  • Understanding the basic alignments of the spine
  • Enhancing postural awareness
  • Strengthening back muscles safely

Essential Pilates

Individual movements and from Beginner Pilates will begin to flow into a series. Many new exercises designed to challenge core stability and realign the body are introduced. The challenge becomes staying true to form, and staying connected with the breath, while moving in more 3-dimentional movements.

Intermediate Pilates

Exercises from the Essentials level are perfected. Flow series become longer to challenge the muscle strength and endurance. New exercises are introduced and previous exercises are made more challenging.

Advanced Pilates

Our most challenging class at Highway to Health - Be prepared to challenge your core from every angle! This class is designed for strong intermediate clients with no physical limitations (sore backs, shoulders, or wrists).

Evening Beginner Pilates PROGRAM (includes 7 beginner classes and 3 essential classes): $175 (plus gst)

Essential/Int/Adv Pilates 8 Classes: $139 (plus gst)

Essential/Int/Adv Pilates 15 Classes: $225 (plus gst)

Unlimited classes for $126 per month (plus gst)
